Charlie Nicholas is typical of a lot of these Skysport presenters, who are deliberately over critical of players.
I put a lot of it down to resentment, as understandably, they're jealous of the money and stardom players have these days.
I used the term over critcal, as they're right to criticise when they do, its just that they go OTT.
Tony Gale does it when he commentates. I like TG and obviously respect him for being an ex pro. But anyone would have thought he was as good as Bobby Moore at defending with some of his comments.
All that said, I sometimes think over critical comments by the pundits can be a good thing from the perspective of building up the character of young players.
They live in a dream world having smoke blown up their arses most of the time, so sometimes they need to realise that not everything is fair and have to deal with unfair comments and injustices the same us most of us plebs on here have had to deal with in everyday life.
Sorry, did I say 'plebs' - I meant to say, highly functional, well respected, pillars of society.

There is no way Wilshire or Noble will take his place, he is one of the first names on the teamsheet now, so he's wrong there.
I watched 2nd half of England v Bulgaria last week he was outstanding doing the dirty work and water carrying, looked world class especially for a 21 year old.

Reading a newspaper report about the Kosovo match the other day. Apparently there were three big errors on the night: Michael Keane's wayward pass for the first goal, West Ham's Declan Rice giving the ball away for the second and Harry Maguire's foul for the third.
I combed the article but at no point were Keane and Maguire's club affiliations mentioned.

In the seventies Scottish players like Souness and Dalglish (& Ray Stewart) came to England and were top stars
By the early 80's the big new star was Charlie Nicholas who came to Arsenal and was mediocre and a drunk.
That marked the end of Scottish talent and we see where they are now

There are people who have seen how good Rice can be, and quite rightly they have got excited about it. However, he is still learning and developing.
There are other people who can't wait to see him fail and will jump on any mistake. He basically made one mistake in 180 minutes and some cunts are going over the top.
Luckily, the people who matter believe in him and will ignore all this shit. also, Rice has a great attitude and has the mindset to overcome all the criticism - some of which is fair by the way.
As supporters, we should get behind him and help him develop into the player he is capable of becoming.
